Promega Receives SBTi Validation for Emissions Reduction Targets

Promega Corporation has received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. The targets establish science-aligned goals for reducing emissions across the company's operations and value chain by 2030.

Scope 1 and 2 Emissions Target

Promega has committed to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 47% by 2030, using 2023 as the baseline year. Scope 1 covers direct emissions from company-controlled sources, while Scope 2 covers emissions associated with purchased electricity.

Reducing Supply-Chain Emissions

The company has also set a target to reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2023 baseline, focusing on capital goods and business travel. In addition, Promega aims to have 67% of suppliers by spend in purchased goods and upstream transportation committed to SBTi or SBTi-aligned emissions reduction targets by 2030.
