Description

  • General description: Iohexol is a non-ionic, water-soluble contrast agent used as a reference marker to determine the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) which measures the level of kidney function.[1] It finds applications in angiographic and urography procedures.[2][3]
  • Application: Iohexol may be used as an internal standard for the determination of iohexol in human plasma, serum and urine samples by HPLC-UV method.[1][4] It may also be used as a model compound to analyze the applicability of iohexol for glomerular filtration rate (GFR) measurement by the plasma clearance of iohexol in investigating renal failure.[5]
