Description
- General description: Thioacetamide is a thiocarboxamide used as a crosslinking agent for polymers, chemical reagents, and catalysts.[1]Thioacetamide is a thiocarbonyl compound. It undergoes deuterium exchange reaction with D2O to afford N-dideuterated thioacetamide. Infrared spectral investigations of thioacetamide and its deuterated derivative (N-dideuterated thioacetamide) have been reported.[2]
- Application: Thioacetamide may be used as a source of sulfur required for the synthesis of CdS nanoparticles in PVA (poly (vinyl alcohol)) solutions.[3] It may be used in the preparation of sulfur precursor stock solution, which was required during the synthesis of CdS quantum dots in PVA-COOH (carboxylic acid functionalized poly(vinyl alcohol)) and EPC (Enzyme-Polymer Conjugate) solutions.[4]
