Description

  • General description: OsO4 (4wt% in H2O) is widely employed in organic synthesis especially for hydroxylation reactions. Additionally, it is also involved in the oxidative cleavage of alkenes.
  • Application: In situ X-ray-assisted electron microscopy staining for large biological samples.: This study explores the use of osmium tetroxide solution for X-ray-assisted electron microscopy staining, enhancing the visualization of large biological samples (Ströh et al., 2022). Application of the electron microscope to the cytochemical peroxidase reaction in salamander leukocytes.: The use of osmium tetroxide solution in electron microscopy enhances the cytochemical analysis of peroxidase reactions in salamander leukocytes, providing clear and detailed images (MITSUI, 1960).
