Description
- General description: Sodium tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate is a lipophilic ion which is insoluble in water. It is also strong against acids and oxidants. It can be prepared using boron trifluoride and 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylmagnesium iodide as major components.[1]
- Application: Sodium tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate was used in the preparation of poly(n-butyl acrylate)- based ion-selective membranes.[2]
- Packaging: Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.
- Analysis Note: can contain 1-5% water
- Other Notes: Lipophilic additive for solvent polymeric membrane electrodes and optodes[3][4]; Highly lipophilic analogue of tetraphenylborate used for solvent extraction of cations[5]; Anionic phase-transfer catalyst[6][7]
