Description

  • General description: Lithium chloride (LiCl) is a lithium salt. It participates in the Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reactions of base-sensitive aldehydes and phosphonates.[1] LiCl/N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solvent system has been employed for the dissolution of cellulose[2] and synthesis of various cellulose derivatives (cellulose esters, carbamates, sulfonates and ethers).[3] It can be synthesized from lithium carbonate (Li2CO3).[4]
  • Application: Lithium chloride (LiCl) may be used in the synthesis of lithium perchlorate by reacting with perchloric acid.[5]
