Description
- General description: A certified solution standard for use in LC/MS or GC/MS applications in clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, pharmaceutical research or diagnostic testing. Baclofen, a derivative of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), is a muscle relaxant used to treat spasticity. Marketed with brand names such as Kemstro, Lioresal or Gablofen, the drug has also shown effectiveness in the treatment of alcoholism. Discontinuation of baclofen can be associated with a withdrawal syndrome resembling benzodiazepine or alcohol withdrawal.
- Application: <ul><li><strong>Baclofen solution for GABA receptor research:</strong> A nanosuspension-based microneedle skin patch of baclofen has been developed for the sustained management of multiple sclerosis-related spasticity, indicating potential applications of baclofen solution in neuropharmacology and muscle relaxation studies (Verana et al., 2023).</li><li><strong>High-purity baclofen liquid for biochemical studies:</strong> A retrospective study compared the effectiveness of baclofen with buprenorphine in managing acute opioid withdrawal, underscoring the clinical relevance and application of high-purity baclofen solution in therapeutic settings (Hermenau et al., 2023).</li></ul>
