- General description: Sodium 2-mercaptoethanesulfonate is a thiol compound commonly used as an auxiliary drug, to reduce the side effects of anti-cancer drugs, such as oxazaphosphorine, cyclophosphamide, and ifosfamide. It acts by forming a non-toxic compound upon reacting with the toxic metabolites of the drugs like acrolein.
