  • Application: Extraction and analysis of α-Chaconine: A novel extraction method using ultrasound-assisted extraction followed by HPLC-DAD was developed for analyzing bioactive glycoalkaloids like α-Chaconine in potato peel waste. This method offers a greener, quicker, and more efficient approach for natural product biosynthesis studies in food science (Martínez-García et al., 2024).Impact on intestinal cells: A study examined the structural impact of steroidal glycoalkaloids, including α-Chaconine, on barrier integrity, permeability, metabolism, and uptake in intestinal cells, providing insights valuable for pharmacological and toxicological research (Keuter et al., 2024).Genetic association with glycoalkaloid content: Genome-wide association studies in tetraploid potatoes identified SNP markers associated with glycoalkaloid content, including α-Chaconine, contributing to agricultural biotechnology and plant biochemistry studies aimed at improving crop safety and quality (Vos et al., 2022).
