• Application: Guaiacol may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)[1] and electroanalytical[2] techniques.
• Biochem/physiol Actions: Guaiacol, along with 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, is responsible for cork taint in wine. A method has been developed for extraction and quantitation of the two compounds.
• Analysis Note: These secondary standards offer multi-traceability to the USP, EP (PhEur) and BP primary standards, where they are available.
