• General description: Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards. m-Xylene is widely used as a residual solvent (RS) or organic volatile impurity (OVI) in pharmaceutical formulations.[1]
• Application: m-Xylene may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in tablet formulations by chromatography.[2] It can also be used as a residual solvent standard for the quantification of the analyte in tablet formulations by headspace gas chromatography (HS-GC) with flame ionization detection (FID) technique.[1]
• Analysis Note: These secondary standards offer multi-traceability to the USP, EP (PhEur) and BP primary standards, where they are available.
