- General description: DC-Cholesterol HCl is a cholesterol derivative and a cationic lipid[1] with a head group and linker moiety.[2]
- Application: DC-Cholesterol HCl is suitable: for the preparation of ultrasound cationic microbubbles[3] to prepare liposomes[4] for the preparation of L-glutathione (GSH), loaded proliposomes[5]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: DC-Cholesterol is an effective transfection agent and a liposome reagent.[2] Liposome of DC-Cholesterol with dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE) are efficient for DNA transfection.[9] It imparts positive surface charge to the microbubbles for ultra sound based transfection of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPRs).[3]
