- General description: β-Carotene, also known as E160a when used as food coloring supplement, is a precursor to vitamin A. Serum levels of β-carotene are an adequate measurement of clinical status and can confirm the diagnosis of carotenoderma and is used to detect fat malabsorption. This Certified Spiking Solution® is suitable for use as starting material in the preparation of linearity standards, calibrators, or controls in HPLC/UV, LC/MS or GC/MS testing applications such as clinical diagnostic, or food and nutrition testing.
- Application: Selective Determination of TSNAs by GC-MS: Innovative use of gas chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry for the selective determination of TSNAs in cigarette smoke enhances the understanding of the chemical composition of tobacco products and the risks posed by compounds like NNN. This methodological advancement is crucial for toxicological assessments and regulatory compliance (Wu et al., 2013).
