Description

  • General description: γ-Terpinene is a monoterpene hydrocarbon present in essential oils extracted from Thymus vulgaris L., and exhibits antimicrobial, carminative and expectorant activities.[1]
  • Application: γ-Terpinene has been used as a standard in the determination of γ-terpinene, present in tea tree oil extracted from various parts of Melaleuca alternifolia tree and analyzed using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry(GC-MS).γ-Terpinene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in Thymus vulgaris L. oil samples using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS).[1]
