Description
- General description: Tween 20, also referred to as poly(oxyethylene)n-sorbitan-monolaurate, is a non-ionic surfactant. It is mainly used in membrane research.[1]
- Application: Tween 20 is used for:solubilizing membrane proteins during isolation of membrane-protein complexes.a subsequent protein detection by UV light absorption, due to its low UV absorbance.ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) and immunoblots.
- Quality: Purity: <2 ppm peroxide content (as H2O2), <200 μM carbonyls, <100 μS conductivity. Specially purified for membrane research.
- Physical form: 10% (w/v) aqueous solution under nitrogen, supplied in injection glass bottles.
- Preparation Note: Working concentration: >10 mg/mg membrane lipid
- Other Notes: For life science research only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
