  • General description: Phenol is an aromatic alcohol. Various industrial processes for the synthesis of phenol have been proposed.[1] It can undergo oxidation in the presence of Fentons′ reagent in aqueous solution.[2]
  • Application: Phenol may be employed in the following studies:Isolation of deoxyribonucleic acid from Bacillus subtilis.[3]Berthelot color reaction for the estimation of ammonia.[4]Preparation of phenetole (aromatic ether)[5] and 1,2-dihydroxybenzene (catechol).[6]Synthesis of phenoxyacetic acid.[7]
