  • General description: 1,2-Propanediol, a 1,2-alkanediol[1] is an industrially important chemical. Due to its increasing demand many green methods have been proposed for its synthesis mainly using the inexpensive glycerol as the starting material.[1][2][3][4][5][6] It is a raw material for the synthesis of intermediates, building blocks and polymers.[7]
  • Application: 1,2-Propanediol may be used in the following processes:Green synthesis of propylene carbonate.[8]Production of lactic acid by green catalytic oxidation.[9][10]Propanal generation by catalytic dehydration.[11]
