- Application: 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) has been used in the synthesis of MBT functionalized mesoporous silica which can be used as an adsorbent for the removal of Hg(II) from aqueous solution.[1]It can also be used as a:Reference compound in photocatalytic activity tests under UV or visible light irradiation.[2]Starting material for the synthesis of conjugates of 2-MBT for antitubercular activity studies.[3]Starting material for the synthesis of 4-thiazolidinones.[4]
