Description

  • General description: Zinc chloride is a strongly hygroscopic deliquescentsolid widely used as a Lewis acid catalyst in a variety of organictransformations.
  • Application: Zinc chloride is used as a catalyst:in Knoevenagel condensation of carbonyl substrates with acidic methylene reagents[1]in solvent-free synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones.[2]It may be used as chemical activating agents, zinc chloride in particular is the most widely used chemical in the preparation of activated carbon.[3]
