  • General description: β;-Caryophyllene is a volatile sesquiterpene compound that can be used as a flavoring agent.[1] It is one of the major volatile organic compounds in Eugenia caryophyllata essential oil[2], Psidium guajava L. leaves[3], Arabidopsis thaliana flowers[4] and Artemisia annua L. aerial parts.[5]
