Description

  • General description: Lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) is a colorless lithium salt. Upon crystallization from its aqueous solution, it affords lithium perchlorate trihydrate (LiClO4.3H2O). It can be synthesized by reacting lithium chloride with perchloric acid.[1]
  • Application: Lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) may be used as a catalyst in the synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes[2] and in the Baylis-Hillman coupling reaction of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds with aldehydes.[3]
