- General description: α-Terpinene (1-isopropyl-4-methyl-1,3-cyclohexadiene, TER) is a monoterpene found in various plant volatile oils. It is commonly employed as flavoring additive in foods and beverages, as fragrance in cosmetics, and as scent in household products.[1] It is one of the major component of the essential oil of Melaleuca alternifolia.[2]
- Application: Antidepressant and anxiolytic potential of Citrus reticulata Blanco essential oil: a network pharmacology and animal model study.: This study evaluates the antidepressant and anxiolytic effects of essential oils containing α-Terpinene, providing evidence of its therapeutic potential in mental health treatments (Nguyen et al., 2024).
