Description

  • General description: Cu is present in +1 (cuprous) valence state in CuCl.[1] CuCl is a semiconductor having a wide band gap. It is a promising candidate for use in silicon-based optoelectronics since its lattice resembles with silicon. It participates in various reactions with Grignard reagents.[2]
  • Application: Copper(I) chloride (CuCl) has been used in the synthesis of copper nanoring structures.[3] It has also been used as a precursor for the fabrication of ordered array of TiO2 nanoparticles on the conductive nitrogen-doped graphene (NG).[4]
