Description

  • General description: The product is ~40% solution of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide in H2O. Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide has been synthesized from tetrabutylammonium iodide.[1] TBAOH dissolved in anhydrous isopropyl alcohol is widely employed as titrant for weak acids.[2]
  • Application: Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide solution (TBAOH) may be used in the following studies:For the dissolution of 10wt% cellulose under room temperature conditions.[3]As a catalyst during the synthesis of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles.[4]Preparation of TBAOH salts of fatty acids.[5]
  • Caution: may crystallize; can be redissolved on heating to 40°C
