Description

  • General description: Activated charcoal is a black powder that is generally obtained by subjecting wood or other carbonaceous materials to pyrolysis process.[1]
  • Application: Activated charcoal may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of adsorbable organic halides (AOX) in:Landfill leachates,[2] glyphosate formulations,[3] and treated wastewater[4] by adsorption-pyrolysis-microcoulometric procedure.Aqueous environmental samples by adsorption followed by combustion ion chromatography (CIC).[5]Surface water and wastewater samples by adsorption-pyrolysis followed by plasma emission spectrometric detection.[6]
