- General description: Potassium hexachloroplatinate (K2PtCl6) is a source material for the preparation of platinum based compounds. It can be used in the preparation of platinum colloids by its reduction in an aqueous solution.[1][2]
- Application: K2PtCl6 can be used in the preparation of electrodes for potential usage in biosensors.[3] It can be synthesized on nanostructured platinum that can further be used as a cathode catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction.[4]
