Description

• Cultivate and isolate fastidious anaerobic bacteria with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Anaerobic Reducible Blood Agar
• The addition of cysteine, palladium chloride, and dithiothreitol makes the medium reducible
• Reducible medium improves the recovery of anaerobes by lowering the oxidation – reduction potential of the medium
• Kanamycin and vancomycin are added as selective agents for recovery of Gram-negative anaerobes, especially Bacteriodes spp Anaerobic Reducible Blood Agar is a solid media recommended for use in qualitative procedures for the primary isolation and cultivation of fastidious anaerobic bacteria
• Selective : Kanamycin and vancomycin antibiotics inhibit gram-positive organisms and facultative anaerobic bacteria
• Neomycin stimulates the growth of gram-negative anaerobes, especially Bacteriodes spp
• Colistin and nalidixic inhibit the growth of most gram-negative bacilli
