• Cultivate and maintain wide variety of microorganisms with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Nutrient Agar
• This is a non-selective medium which was published by APHA in 1917 1 , as a standardized medium for the use in the examination of water, wastewater, dairy products and various foods
• This medium is also used for the recovery of non-fastidious microorganisms and to cultivate and maintain stock cultures 2,3
• Nutrient Agar is a general purpose culture medium used to cultivate and maintain wide variety of microorganisms
• Ready to use General-purpose culture medium Can be used to subculture organisms for maintenance purposes or to check the purity of subcultures from isolation plates prior to biochemical or serological tests
• Available in 3 formats: Nutrient Agar Monoplates (R01640), Nutrient Agar Slants (R061570 and R061572) and Nutrient Agar Pour Tubes (R08622 and R09626)
• Recommended by the American Public Health Association - Standard Methods of Water Analysis
• This medium contains beef extract that provides carbohydrates, vitamins, nitrogen compounds, and salts
• Gelatin peptone provides nutrients in the form of amino acids and peptides
• When used in combination, beef extract and gelatin are found to be as nutritious as meat infusion
• Agar is the solidifying agent
