• Selectively cultivate and isolate pathogenic fungi with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ SABHI™ Agar w/Chloramphenicol, Cycloheximide
• In 1967, Gorman developed SABHI Agar by combining Sabouraud Dextrose Agar and Brain Heart Infusion Agar
• This combined formulation increased recovery of pathogenic fungi 1
• Selectivity can be achieved by the addition of different antibiotics
• Sabouraud Dextrose Agar helps in the cultivation of dermatophytes and Brain Heart Infusion Agar helps to isolate fungi from clinical specimens 2
• SABHI Agar w/Chloramphenicol, Cycloheximide is a solid medium recommended for use in qualitative procedures for cultivation and isolation of pathogenic fungi
• This medium is made selective by adding chloramphenicol and cycloheximide that inhibit a range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and saprophytic fungi respectively
