• Different Trichophyton species resemble one another closely in culture and are difficult to differentiate on the basis of colony formation or microscopic morphology alone
• Georg and Camp developed Trichophyton Agars for differentiation and identification of Trichophyton isolates based on specific vitamin and amino acid requirements 1
• Trichophyton Agars are to be used with Trichophyton isolates that have been presumptively identified by gross colony characteristics and microscopic morphology 2-5
