Description

• Detect and enumerate microorganisms present on surfaces of sanitary importance using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Settling Plate Sterile Tryptic Soy Agar with Lecithin, Polysorbate 80
• Weber and Black reported that addition of lecithin to an agar in sufficient concentration would effectively neutralize quaternary ammonium compounds 1
• In further testing, Brummer reported that addition of lecithin and polysorbate 80 in an agar medium adequately neutralized disinfectants 2
• Tryptic Soy Agar with Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 is also used in environmental air sampling procedures and is non-irradiated
• Tryptic Soy Agar with Lecithin and Tween 80 is used for the isolation of microorganisms from surfaces sanitized with quaternary ammonium compounds
• Tryptic Soy Agar is prepared following the standard formula for Soybean-Casein Digest Agar Medium in the United States of Pharmacopeia (USP) 3
• Addition of lecithin and polysorbate 80 neutralizes residual compounds that may be present on the material being sampled
• Ready-to-use – Convenience of prepared medium This medium contains casein and soy peptones that provide essential amino acids, peptides, and nitrogenous substances necessary for bacterial growth
• Sodium chloride supplies essential electrolytes and maintains osmotic equilibrium
