Description
- General description: M-CSF (colony stimulating factor 1) is a pleiotropic macrophage growth factor. It has a signal peptide, a 149-amino acid receptor-binding domain, a variable spacer region and a transmembrane region with a cytoplasmic tail. The human M-CSF receptor is a 972-amino acid glycosylated protein which consist of an extracellular region made of five immunoglobulin-like domains (D1–D5), a transmembrane region and an intracellular autocatalytic kinase domain.[1] This gene is mapped to human chromosome p13-p21.[2]
