- General description: The Human Ferritin ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Ferritin in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine.Ferritin is a heteropolymer globular protein of 450 kDa and is localized to the nucleus, mitochondria and cytoplasm.[1] Ferritin is an intracellular protein containing 24 subunits (heavy and light).[2][3]

- Application: For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.Please refer to the attached General ELISA KIT Procedure (sandwich, competitive & Indirect ELISA)
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Ferritin mediates iron metabolism and plays a key role in redox homeostasis.[3][1] Ferritin possesses ferroxidase activity and maintains iron in its non-toxic form.[3] Ferritin acts as an iron-storage protein and stores excessive intracellular iron that is not utilized for the production of heme. Also, iron is released from ferritin upon degradation.[6]
