  • General description: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) is a fluoropolymer which is the most lubricious polymer with low co-efficient of friction.[1] PTFE tubing is chosen due to its excellent hydrophobicity, chemical inertness, and ability to withstand high pressures.[2] It can be suitable to protect the optical fibres.[3]
  • Application: PTFE tubing may be used to connect the gas lines to the ports during gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of volatile organic compounds from potato tubers inoculated with Phytophthora infestans or Fusarium coeruleum.[4]
