Description

  • General description: 1-Methoxy-2-propanol (Propylene glycol methyl ether, PGME), a glycol ether, can be synthesized by reacting propylene oxide with methanol in the presence of ZnMgAl (zinc-magnesium-aluminium) catalysts.[1] Its degradation by microorganisms in different soil types has been investigated.[2] An oral reference dose (RfD) and an inhalation reference concentration (RfC) values of PGME have been obtained from inhalation studies in F344 rats and B6C3F1 mice.[3]
