Description
- General description: Mercury(II) acetate forms various addition compounds with olefins. Polarographic evaluation of these addition compounds has been proposed.[1] It participates in the synthesis of nitrate esters, acetate esters, alcohols and ethers.[2]
- Application: Due to its strong affinity towards sulfur, it finds application as a reagent in desulfurization reactions.[3] Mercury(II) acetate may be used in the preparation of mercury(II) acetate-Nafion modified electrode, which can be used in anodic stripping voltammetry for the analysis of lead and copper ions in waste water samples.[4]
