Description

  • General description: Dimethylglyoxime (DMG) is a complexing ligand.[1] Dimethylglyoxime forms a number of mixed ligand complexes with N-acetylglycine with metals such as VO(IV), Ni(II), Zn(II), Pd(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II). It is a useful reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of Co(II), Fe(II), Ni(II), Pd(II) and Re(VII).[2]
  • Application: Dimethylglyoxime (DMG) was used as complexing agent for cobalt(II) and nickel(II) metals for the analysis of brine for trace metals by adsorptive stripping voltammetry.[3] DMG was used in a study to develop a new DMG containing modified sol-gel carbon composite electrode for voltammetric sensing of heavy metals.[1]
