Description

  • General description: Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is produced during the chlorination of water comprising natural organic material.[1] It is a novel reagent used in clinical laboratories for deproteinization of body fluids.[2] In addition, TCA is also used in the treatment of genital warts[3] and acne scars.[4]
  • Application: Trichloroacetic acid has been used:for hydrolysis of DNA isolated from the cell[5]for precipitation of glutathione isolated from seminal plasma[6]as a fixative in microscopy[7]
