Description
- General description: (−)-Scopolamine hydrochloride belongs to the class of naturally occurring tropane alkaloids of medicinal interest,[1] found in several members of the Solanaceae family, commonly Atropa belladonna and representatives of the genera Datura and Duboisia.[2]For the analysis of the phytotoxins.
- Application: (−)-Scopolamine hydrochloride may be used as a precursor for the preparation of scopolamine, employed as an analytical standard for the quantification of the scopolamine in the floral nectar and plant organs of Datura species[2][1] using various chromatographic techniques.
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Competitive nonselective muscarinic acetylcholine antagonist. Scopolamine-induced amnesia in laboratory animals is a commonly-used model of memory deficit.
- Reconstitution: Dried down, concentration of (S)-(-)-Scopolamine (free base) after reconstitution ~100μg/mL
- Analysis Note: purity : ≥96.0% (HPLC)
