- General description: GHB, or γ-hydroxybutyrate, is a central nervous system depressant sold under the brand name Xyrem® and used medically to treat narcolepsy, excessive daytime sleepiness and in rare circumstances, alcoholism. GHB is also used recreationally as an intoxicant and date rape drug. Its many street names include “GBH”, “Liquid X”, “G”, “Juice”, and “Mils”.
