- Interleukin-22 receptor subunit alpha-1 (UniProt Q8N6P7; also known as CRF2-9, Cytokine receptor class-II member 9, Cytokine receptor family 2 member 9, IL-22 receptor subunit alpha-1, IL-22R-alpha-1, IL-22RA1, ZcytoR11) is encoded by the IL22RA1 (also known as IL22R) gene (Gene ID 58985) in human
- IL-22RA-1 is a member of the type II cytokine receptor family that complexes with IL-10RB and mediates JAK/STAT signaling
- IL22 binding to heterodimer is greater than binding to IL22RA1 alone
- IL-22RA-1 is expressed in colon, liver, lung, pancreas and kidney, however, no expression is observed in immune cells, such as monocytes, T-cells, and NK-cells
- It is also detected in normal blood brain barrier endothelial cells as well as in multiple sclerosis lesions
- Higher expression has been observed in synovial fluid cells from rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathy patients.
