- Thromboxane synthase encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes

- The enzyme plays a role in several pathophysiological processes including hemostasis, cardiovascular disease, and stroke
- Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
