- RGS proteins attenuate G protein-mediated pathways by acting as GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs) for Ga subunits
- RGS13 has been found most abundantly in human tonsil, thymus, lung, lymph node, and spleen
- RGS13 regulate Gai, Gaq, and Gas coupled signaling cascades
- It is a GTPase-activating protein for Gai and Gao
- The protein blocks MAPK activity induced by Gai- or Gaq-coupled receptors
- The protein also attenuates GTPase-deficient Gaq (GaqQL) mediated cAMP response element activation
- The gene encoding for human RGS13 is localized on chromosome 1q31.2.
