Description

• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration
• For extended storage aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below
• Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature
• This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid
• Dilute only prior to immediate use
• Anti-HEXOKINASE (RABBIT) Antibody is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above
• Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-peroxidase, anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Hexokinase [Yeast]
• Cross reactivity against Hexokinase from other tissues and species is expected based on sequence homology
• Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, the first step in most glucose metabolism pathways
• This gene encodes a ubiquitous form of hexokinase which localizes to the outer membrane of mitochondria
• Mutations in this gene have been associated with hemolytic anemia due to hexokinase deficiency
• Alternative splicing of this gene results in five transcript variants which encode different isoforms, some of which are tissue-specific
• Each isoform has a distinct N-terminus; the remainder of the protein is identical among all the isoforms
• A sixth transcript variant has been described, but due to the presence of several stop codons, it is not thought to encode a protein.
