- Cyanines are blue-green fluorescent dyes belonging to polymethine group, used in biotechnology for labeling and analysis
- The spectrum for Cyanine ranges from IR (489/506) to UV (743/767)
- Cyanine dyes include Cy2, Cy3, Cy3B, Cy3.5, Cy5, Cy5.5 and Cy7
- These dyes exhibit brighter and more stable fluorescence than traditional FITC, TRITC/Rhodamine dyes
- Cy3 and Cy5 are most commonly used for 2 color detection in Flow Cytometry applications.
