- Biotin is a water-soluble B complex vitamin, generally classified as Vitamin B7
- It is required by all organisms and can only be synthesized by bacteria, yeasts, molds, algae, and some plant species
- Biotin is required for incorporation of carbon dioxide into organic compounds and exhibits a MW of ∼244 Da.
