- Specifically detects Relaxin 2 Clone: in Human samples, and it is validated for ELISA, Immunohistochemistry, Radioimmunoassay Relaxin is a hormone of the insulin-growth factor family that induces ripening of the cervix prior to childbirth
- The peptide is composed of two chains, A and B, and is formed from a single-chain prohormone, similar to insulin
- Relaxin has also been shown to elicit a powerful vasodilatory response in several target organs
- This response is mediated by the stimulation of intrinsic nitric oxide (NO) generation
- Additionally, relaxin plays a role in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling in many reproductive organs, including the ovary, by upregulating MMP-1, MMP-3, and MMP-9 activity
- In the human there are two relaxin genes, H1 and H2, which share 90% sequence homology within their coding region.
