- KDM4C does not demethylate histone H3 'Lys-4', H3 'Lys-27', or H4 'Lys-20'
- It demethylates trimethylated H3 "eLys-9' and H3 "eLys-36' residues
- There is no activity on mono- or dimethylated residues
- Demethylation of Lys residues generates formaldehyde and succinate.
