Test Specificity
Reacts with human integrin beta3 (GPIIIa, vitronectin receptor beta chain). It associates with the IIb-chain (CD41) to form the GpIIb/GpIIIa complex (CD41/CD61).The CD41/CD61 complex appears early in megakaryocyte maturation. The activated CD41/CD61 complex is a receptor for von Willebrand factor, soluble fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin and thrombospondin. It plays a central role in platelet activation and aggregation. The CD51/CD61 is implicated in tumor metastasis and adenoviral infection. The antibody detects platelets in smears of blood and bone marrow, as well as megakaryocytes in frozen sections and cell smears. The antibody is useful for classification of megakaryoblastic leukemia.

Test Specificity: Reacts with a carbohydrate determinant, identified as CDw78 (Workshop V; Code CDw78.2). Epitope recognized by this monoclonal antibody and Leu21 is the same. It is present on some immature and some peripheral blood B cells, and some B cell lines. Its expression is increased after B-cell activation in vitro. CDw78 is also found on tissue macrophages and on epithelial cells, but not on T cells, NK cells, monocytes, granulocytes and myeloid tissues. Test Specificity: This antibody recognizes a protein doublet of 20-22kDa, identified as MART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T cells 1) or Melan-A. MART-1 is a newly identified melanocyte differentiation antigen recognized by autologous cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Seven other melanoma associated antigens recognized by autologous cytotoxic T cells include MAGE-1, MAGE-3, tyrosinase, gp100, gp75, BAGE-1, and GAGE-1.
