TGF-alpha

Classification

Monoclonal

Conjugate

Alexa Fluor 750

Formulation

50 mM sodium borate with 0.05% sodium azide

Gene Symbols

TGFA

Immunogen

Recombinant human full-length TGF-alpha protein (Uniprot: P01135)

Primary or Secondary

Primary

Test Specificity

This antibody reacts with the C-terminus of TGF alpha and shows no cross-reaction with EGF and the neuropeptide synenkephalin. TGF (aa50) is a growth factor with 33% homology to EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation of the receptor, and stimulates cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing the reversible transformed phenotype.

Antigen:
c-Myc

Classification:
Monoclonal

Conjugate:
Alexa Fluor 350

Formulation:
50 mM sodium borate with 0.05% sodium azide

Gene Symbols:
MYC

Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide, corresponding to aa 408-439 (AEEQKLISEEDLLRKRREQLKHKLEQLRNSCA) from C-terminus of human c-Myc, coupled to KLH. (Uniprot: P01106)

Primary or Secondary:
Primary

Test Specificity:
It recognizes a transcription factor of 64-67kDa, identified as c-myc. Its epitope spans between aa 410-419 (EQKLISEEDL) which is a specific portion of an alpha helical region of human c-myc protein. This monoclonal antibody shows no cross-reaction with v-myc. c-myc is involved in the control of cell proliferation and differentiation and is amplified and/or overexpressed in a variety of tumors. Over-expression of c-myc protein occurs frequently in luminal cells of prostate intraepithelial neoplasia as well as in most primary carcinomas and metastatic disease.

Identifying MYC status is important in establishing final diagnosis of DLBCL, BL, or B-cell lymphoma, with features intermediate between DLBCL and BL as well as in differential diagnoses of the lymphomas.
